Gen Z Movement in Nepal: Embassies of 9 countries including US, UK urge everyone to resolve peacefully

Kathmandu. Embassies of nine countries in Nepal have expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of 19 people in police firing during the Gen Z movement.

In a joint statement issued on Monday night by the embassies of Australia, Finland, France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, and the United States in Nepal, they stated their strong support for the universal rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and expression.

They also urged all parties to exercise restraint and seek a peaceful resolution to the situation without allowing it to further deteriorate, and to ensure full protection of fundamental rights.

“Our governments reiterate their strong support for the universal rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and expression. We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint, to seek a peaceful resolution without allowing the situation to deteriorate further, and to ensure the full protection of these fundamental rights,” the statement said.

We express our deep sorrow over the violent incidents witnessed in Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal today. We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and injuries caused by these incidents.

We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and those affected. We also wish a speedy recovery to all those injured.
