Agency. US President Donald Trump, who has been demanding that he be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, has finally received the peace prize. US President Donald Trump has been awarded the first FIFA Peace Prize in the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA established the award this year to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to global peace and unity. Trump was presented with a gold trophy and medal at a ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
The ceremony was broadcast globally and included video clips showcasing Trump’s diplomatic efforts. It also included clips of world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The videos praised Trump’s diplomacy and honored him for his efforts to establish peace around the world.
After accepting the award, Trump said, “This is truly one of the greatest honors of my life. More important than the award is that we saved millions of lives. Congo is an example of this, where 10 million people were killed and the situation could have quickly reached another 10 million. We intervened and stopped it. We also helped prevent many conflicts, including the India-Pakistan conflict.”
Trump has said he is proud of ending many global conflicts and, in this regard, has reiterated his candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize. He recently renamed the US Institute of Peace to the Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised Trump, saying his contributions to both football and global diplomacy were commendable. Trump was presented with a gold trophy and a medal depicting him holding a globe in his hand.
The award has sparked heated debate in the political and sporting worlds. FIFA said the decision was made on behalf of its more than 5 billion football fans, while critics questioned whether it was appropriate to add political messages to global football events.
