The Canadian government has urged people not to visit Nepal except for essential work, citing security challenges in the country

Toronto. The Canadian government has urged its citizens not to travel to Nepal except for essential work. The notice has been issued keeping in mind the security risks to citizens.
Individuals and their families traveling to Nepal are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary for tourism, business, study, or any other reason. Due to security challenges in Nepal, Canadian citizens are advised to shorten their stay in Nepal.
Information has been given to avoid traveling to Nepal due to the current unrest, violence, weak political situation, weak security situation, etc. It has also been said that staying in Nepal may be dangerous due to the limited consular services of the Canadian government in Nepal.
Hundreds were injured and killed in protests and clashes in Nepal on September 8, 2025. Since then, in the context of occasional demonstrations and protests, the Canadian government has issued an updated notice on December 15, i.e. yesterday, Monday, December 29, for the additional safety of citizens.
