Agency. Canada has said it will respond strongly to the US’s new tariffs on Canadian goods. Prime Minister Mark Carney has concluded that the new US tariffs are a mistake and announced that the dollar will respond to the dollar from September 8.

Addressing Canadians on Saturday, Carney said the US has made many demands in trade talks with Canada but has offered very little in return.

Carney said Canada has entered a trade war after the US imposed new tariffs. Canada has said it will impose retaliatory tariffs on steel, dairy products, household appliances and electrical goods, among other items, equal to the tariffs imposed by the US.

Carney’s announcement came after trade talks between the US and Canada collapsed on Friday, with both sides accusing each other of changing terms at the last minute.

After the talks failed, the US has imposed new tariffs of up to 50 percent on various goods imported from Canada. This is in addition to the tariffs already imposed by the US on Canadian steel, aluminum, cars and wood products.

The new tariffs will apply to about $20 billion worth of goods from Canada to the United States. This is about 5 percent of total Canadian imports to the United States.

The United States and Canada have long been close trading partners, but the latest trade dispute has strained relations between the two countries. US President Donald Trump has not yet commented publicly on the latest developments.
