Trump’s 48 hour ultimatum to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, Iran says- will be responded to, the war has now entered a new phase
Agency. Amid the ongoing war, US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran.
He has given Iran a 48-hour ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s most important waterway for energy transport, which lies in its territory.
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday morning, “If Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the United States will attack and destroy Iran’s power plants, starting with the largest plant.”
Trump’s warning came hours after Iran fired two missiles at Israel on Saturday evening.
More than 100 people were injured in an attack by Iran on Israel on Saturday evening, the BBC reported, making it the deadliest attack since the start of the war.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself called the attack on Saturday evening a “very difficult evening.”
Earlier on Saturday, 22 countries, including the UAE, issued a joint statement announcing their readiness to contribute to the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
Strait of Hormuz: What is it and where is it?
The Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Arabian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea beyond, is the world’s most important energy route.
The Strait of Hormuz, a waterway that transports a fifth of the world’s oil and a large amount of gas, is located between Oman and the UAE on one side and Iran on the other.
Crude oil passes through here from Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The Strait of Hormuz also plays an important role in the LNG trade.
According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), most crude oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz to Asia, with China, India, Japan and South Korea accounting for about 70 percent.
About 30 percent of Europe’s jet fuel supply comes through the Strait of Hormuz, and a fifth of the global LNG supply passes through this waterway.
The war between the US, Israel and Iran has spread to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes. Due to this, oil prices have increased sharply.
According to Iranian state media, the final decision to close the Strait of Hormuz will be made by the country’s Supreme National Security Council and must be approved by the government.
After Trump’s ultimatum, Iran said: There will be a response, the war has now entered a new phase
Iran has warned of retaliation after US President Donald Trump threatened a major attack if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened within 48 hours.
Iranian state media has said that “if Iran’s fuel and energy centers are attacked, the country’s military will target energy infrastructure related to the United States.”
Iran has further stated, ‘The war has now entered a new phase.’

The war has been ongoing since the US-Israeli joint airstrike on February 28 killed top leaders and officials, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The US-based Human Rights Activist News Agency (HRANA) has reported that 3,186 people have died in Iran so far.
Meanwhile, Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Ali Mohammad Naini, the spokesman and public relations officer for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have also been killed.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Esmail Qani, the commander-in-chief of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), made his first public statement on Saturday since the start of the war with the US and Israel.
In which he mentioned that even if top and senior leaders and officials are killed, their movement will not weaken.
