Anti-Trump protests in Canada: Hundreds participate in ‘No Kings’ protest outside US Consulate in Toronto
Agency. Hundreds of people gathered outside the US Consulate in Toronto to protest US President Donald Trump. Hundreds of people gathered outside the US Consulate in Toronto on Saturday afternoon for a “No Kings” protest against President Donald Trump.
The demonstration in Toronto is one of many events taking place in the US and abroad to protest policies implemented by the Trump administration and recent global issues.
A major concern for many protesters is the “lawless war” in the Middle East that was launched without congressional approval, said Julie Buchanan, Toronto chair of Democrats for Foreign Affairs.
“That’s against the Constitution,” she said. “That’s just one thing, there are so many things [Trump has done], it’s hard to count.”
Dozens of rallies have taken place in the US in the past few weeks since the White House and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran on February 28.
Protesters marched through downtown Toronto on Saturday, carrying various placards with phrases like “If we remain silent, history will repeat itself” and “Injustice anywhere threatens justice everywhere,” as hundreds of people gathered to protest Trump.
