Air Canada pilots vote in favour of strike next month. Here’s what you need to know

Toronto. A majority of pilots at Air Canada have voted in favour of walking off the job as early as mid-September, after more than a year of negotiations between the union and the airline.

The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), which represents more than 5,400 aviators at the country’s largest carrier, said the vote passed by 98 per cent on Thursday.

Charlene Hudy, head of the union’s Air Canada contingent said this vote sends “a clear message to management,” that pilots are willing to take job action to secure a better contract.
