Severe floods in Solukhumbu’s Tham River: Entire villages estimated to have been swept away

Kathmandu. The flood in Tham river located in Khumbu Pasanglhamu rural municipality-5 of Solukhumbu district has washed away the entire village. So far, more than 15 houses have been washed away or buried in the flood.

A school building and a clinic were also washed away in the sudden flood on Friday afternoon. Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu, Devi Pande Khatri, informed that 7 private houses and 7 more houses were washed away and hotel shops were washed away. According to her, half a dozen more houses are at high risk.
According to her, people have been moved from the settlement to a safer place. 7 people trapped in flood have been rescued. It is said that due to bad weather, there was a delay in sending rescue and relief helicopters. The Nepali Army team has reached the spot and is now continuing the rescue operation.
